Portfolio Requirements
1) About Me Section: You can see Mr. Preston's for an example (on Weebly home page) - can be an overall artist statement OR more of a story of you
2) Artwork: There needs to be a gallery section of AT LEAST 10 pieces of artwork in any media or style demonstrating a consistent or developing body of work completed within the past 1-3 years. You may include examples of artwork in any media that emphasizes your artistic strengths. Your ideas, concepts and technical ability should be clearly represented in your portfolio. It is suggested that all applicants submit some examples of direct observational drawings, and highly recommend if you are anticipating majoring in Art Education, Fine Arts, Fashion Design or Illustration.
3) New Art: “Drawing from direct observation” specifically means drawing from what you see in real life, including people, objects and or spaces directly around you. Drawings that are copied from photographs, posters, or another person’s artwork are not considered to be observational drawings. You will need at least 2 observational drawings in your portfolio - some of you have never done one, or thrown away the ones you worked on so you can use this time to create more
Your portfolio is a critical portion of your experience here at KCAA - and this is your FINAL for this course. Many of you will use it for entry to college (regardless of major) or at a job interview. So do your best - and make it look professional!

Design Cycle
Relate / Research: Read the above article 10 Principles of Effective Web Design... Create account at Weebly.com
Analyze / Rough Draft: None - start messing with Weebly - PUBLISH OFTEN
Create / Final Draft: You will likely be short of the 10 works of art - so for the remainder of the year you will work on your Weebly and/or create art for the page - JPG's are the best for creating gallery (should have a folder of each JPG you want to use then import as you create)
Reflect: Weekly portfolio progress grades - FINAL portfolio review by Preston or at the Creative Careers Festival (April 9th)
